To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS shutting down a world-class science and cultural institution is a bad decision for the community it serves and all Ontarians;
WHEREAS people in Flemingdon Park and Thorncliffe Park are seeing a vital institution ripped from their community, and families across Toronto will lose out on public science education for their kids, potentially for years;
WHEREAS the government could have invested in revitalizing the Ontario Science Centre, but instead it used our public money to concoct a sham business case against this important community hub;
WHEREAS communities have not been consulted about Ford's half-baked scheme;
WHEREAS the Conservatives' their ‘business case’ that shows the one-time cost of relocating the Ontario Science Centre to Ontario Place would be twice the cost of completing the necessary repairs at the current site.
THEREFORE, WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to immediately invest in repairing the current Ontario Science facility where it is currently located and Hold and respect community consultations about the Ontario Science Centre's future.
