Legislation at Queen's Park

One of MPP Begum's main duties as your representative at Queen's Park is to vote on legislation, introduced as bills and brought forward by any member of the Legislature. Please contact our office to share your thoughts on current legislation that may affect you, your family and our community.

When MPPs who are not Cabinet Ministers bring forward a bill, it’s called a Private Members’ Bill (PMB). However, only bills brought forward by the government can propose a new tax or any spending of public funds. The Assembly also votes on the provincial budget.

View all Bills tabled in the most recent session and the status of those currently before the Legislature here. You can also read what MPPs said during the debate of each Bill, and how they voted.

As a member of the Official Opposition, MPP Begum is responsible for holding the government to account by asking questions to the Premier and Cabinet Ministers through Question Period, written notices, debates and statements.

You can watch proceedings at Queen's Park (including Question Period and Members' Statements) and read MPP Begum's contribution in debates in the House Hansard.
